Steve Longley was Head Coach of Baseball at Cleveland State from 1970-1993. He also taught Health, Physical Education and Recreation while also serving as Assistant Baseball Coach for five years prior, Head Golf Coach for three years, Assistant Softball Coach for two years, and the Athletic Director for one year. During his time coaching the Cougars, he accomplished the following:

  • Had a career coaching record of 446-181
  • Won TJCAA Eastern Division Coach of the Year five times
  • Won TJCAA Conference Coach of the Year four times
  • Led his team to a Runner-Up finish at the NJCAA JUCO World Series
  • Seven of his players reached the MLB

Before he was Head Coach of Cleveland State Baseball, Longley played collegiate baseball at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. and then played professionally for the Cincinnati Reds. He is a member of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, Tennessee Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame, and the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame.
