Cross Country Signs East Hamilton's Kiemeyer

The Cleveland State Cross Country team had a big day on Wednesday, Feb. 20 as they signed East Hamilton's top runner Jacob Kiemeyer.

Kiemeyer's has been East Hamilton's top-ranked runner all four years of high school cross country career and has placed well in area meets. His career-best 5000m cross country time stands at 17:12.

One of his coaches Kirsten Legac said of Kiemeyer, "Jacob was one of the most positive and hardworking athletes I had the pleasure of coaching. He was a great teammate and I am very proud of him."

East Hamilton coach David Kelman also raved about Kiemeyer's performance, "He has worked hard to get to this point. I expect a lot more from Jacob in college: this is just the beginning for him."

After his decision to sign with Cleveland State, Jacob stated, "Cleveland State has a quickly developing program with some great runners. The school gives me the opportunity to progress as a runner and potentially continue my athletic career at the next level."

Cleveland State head coach David Kyle said, "Jacob is an excellent student athlete. I have followed him throughout his entire high school career. He has a great work ethic and will make an immediate impact as a freshman. I am very excited to see what he will accomplish these next two years."
