Cross Country freshman Derek Gallardo competed in the 5000m run at the Berry Field Day Invitational in Rome, Ga. on Friday evening.
Running unattached, Gallardo ran a 15:40.50 5000m time, earning him a fifth place finish out of 52 runners.
Gallardo will run with the cross country team on Saturday at the Westside Ruritan 5K at Walker Valley High School as a part of the team's out-of-season training.
