Softball suffered two losses on the day to start their season 1-3 as they played both Wallace State and Itawamba in Hanceville, Ala. on Saturday afternoon.
GAME 1- Cleveland State 5 Wallace State 8
The Lady Cougars suffered a tough 8-5 loss at the hands of the Lady Lions in the first game of their two game tournament. However, their offense was far from quiet.
After finding themselves down 8-2, Cleveland State battled back in the seventh inning, scoring three runs. Hannah Turner, Kaylee Hughes, McCoy Hensley, and Kat Cechini all had multi-hit games in the contest. The Lady Cougars had 11 total hits in the game.
GAME 2- Cleveland State 7 Itawamba 14
The second game, the Lady Cougars found themselves in a deep hole, allowing nine first inning runs to the Itawamba Lady Indians, which was too much to battle back from.
The highlights of the game included Amber Atkins' second-inning home run, her second of the season. Anna Yell had two hits in the game, and Cleveland State had nine total.
The Lady Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Georgia Highlands for a pair of games with the Lady Chargers. Their doubleheader will begin at 2:00 ET.
