Softball secured a day one sweep over the Lady Raiders of Roane State on Friday.

GAME 1- Cleveland State 11, Roane State 5

The Lady Cougars had a huge rally in the first game of the series with the Lady Raiders, as a late surge helped them win the game 11-5.

After finding themselves down 5-0 in the fifth inning, Cleveland State scored two runs in the fifth and nine runs in the sixth to power past Roane State.

Haley Fair was huge in the effort, going two-for-three with three RBI, two runs scored, and a home run. Hannah Turner, who was two-for-four, also had a multi-RBI game, driving in two runs and scoring two. McCoy Hensley, Amber Atkins, Kat Cechini, Kaylee Hughes, and Katie Davis all also drove in a run for the Lady Cougars.

Kaylee Cornelius earned the win in relief.

GAME 2- Cleveland State 7, Roane State 6

Cleveland State then went on to play a tight second game with the Lady Raiders. After going ahead 6-1, Roane State stormed back to tie the game. The Lady Cougars then took the lead in the sixth inning via a Cechini RBI.

Atkins had a huge game, driving in six runs, both coming via three-run home runs. She also scored two runs of her own while batting two-for-four. Turner was also strong on offense again, batting two-for-two with two runs scored and two walks.

The Lady Cougars will be back in action tomorrow to conclude the series with Roane State. The first pitch in the doubleheader is set for 12:00 ET.
