
Lady Cougars Defeat Johnson University FL 3-0
Cleveland State defeated Johnson University Florida Saturday night in Knoxville, TN by a score of 3-0.
The first set started off with Johnson University taking a 6-5 lead. The Lady Cougars charged back, led by a Kirstie Williams kill giving Cleveland State a 8-6 lead. Later on in the set Johnson University managed to tie it back up at 11 a piece. Cleveland State grabbed a 13-12 lead with a kill by Aly Lemons and ran off, leading by as much as 8 points. Cleveland State closed out the first set with a 25-20 victory.
Cleveland State kept the momtemum rolling in the second set snagging a early 10-7 lead over the Suns. After a pair of kills by Kate Essenberg and Kirstie Williams Cleveland State had pushed their lead to 15-10 and proceeded to run off with the lead. The Lady Cougars took set two against the Suns by a score of 25-15.
Up two sets over Johnson University the Lady Cougars found them selves in a 5-5 tie with the opposing team. Set three continues with Reagan Morrison blocking the opposing libero retaining a Cleveland State 11-9 lead. Not long after, Cleveland State found themselves down 13-16 to Johnson University. Hailey Galvan follows this with 8 serves to rally the Lady Cougars back to a 21-16 lead. Cleveland State runs away with set three with a 25-20 victory; Lady Cougars win the match 3-0 over Johnson University.
Next up on the schedule, Cleveland State will hold their home opener against Gadsden State Community College on Monday, August 27th at 6:30PM EST at the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium.
