Guzman Wins In Debut As Cougars Complete Mountaintop Invite
Three Cougars placed in the top five as the men's team took 2nd overall and the women's team took 3rd overall at Saturday's races at Covenant College.
The Cougar Cross Country teams raced well on a tough course on the campus of Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Ga. on Friday evening.
The men's team placed second overall as a team by just two points, but represented well in the top five. Diego Guzman placed first with a 5k time of 16:45.5, with Derek Gallardo and Erik Martinez placed third with a time of 17:05.30 and fourth with a time of 17:09.10, respectively.
On the women's side, Angie Torres took the top spot for the Lady Cougars, placing 13th overall with a time of 16:04.6. Sadie Lane, who placed 14th, had a 30 second 2 mile PR with a time of 16:21.90. The women placed 3rd overall at the event.
Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the UNA Invitational in Florence, Ala. with a start time of 8:30 ET.
