Cleveland State Athletics held a special ceremony at halftime of the Women's Basketball game on Saturday.
Former Lady Cougar head coach and Hall of Fame inductee Hugh Walker presented fellow Hall of Fame Women's Basketball player Liz Hannah Jackson's family with a special plaque with pictures commemorating her participation in the 1976 Tennessee All-Stars game in which they faced the U.S.S.R National Team. The ceremony also honored the life and decorated basketball career for Jackson, who passed away this past summer.
Prior to the ceremony, Walker, who gifted the pictures to the athletic department, expressed how he had a strong desire to showcase that Cleveland State has had "some of the best players in the country" of which "Liz was definitely one."
During his speech to honor Jackson, Walker spoke highly of her numerous achievements, including how Jackson led the National Tournament in scoring before players were even credited with the three-point shot. "She averaged 28 points in the National Tournament, and about two-thirds of those would have been threes," he said.
Fans can view the plaque with the photos of Jackson's participation in the All-Star Game vs. the U.S.S.R. National Team can be found in the Cougar Room.
