
Cougars Come a Basket Away from Upsetting Volunteer State
Down their leading scorer Cleveland State came one shot away from defeating the second place Pioneers.
The Cougars (5-18, 1-14) are without their top point producer Jeremiah Hayes, but still were able to make it close losing 75-73 at Volunteer State (13-11, 12-3).
Allaric Hudson had a big night off the bench for Cleveland scoring a team high 18 points shooting 7-10 from the field including 4-7 from behind the three-point line. Joshua Brown also added 10 as a reserve while starter Josiah Marsh put in 11 and Kam'Ron Lee scored 10.
The conference's second leading scorer Taylor Groves produced 18 points for the Pioneers. Lavonta Ivery, Cannon Hale and Jailen Hardaway each added 10 of their own.
Next up the Cougars welcome Roane State (15-8, 8-6) to town with tip-off set for this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
