Cougar Softball (10-21, 3-17) went into the 4-game conference weekend against first place Walters State having already upset Chattanooga State 2-0 in league play two weeks earlier and looking to hand Senator softball their first conference loss. 

Unfortunately, it was not to be as Walters State swept the series and held Cleveland State scoreless, winning 5-0 and 6-0 on Friday and then 11-0 and 7-0 on Saturday.

In game one's 5-0 loss, Carly Frost started her first game of the season and pitched five innings effectively, giving up three hits. Cameron Baltimore pitched the final two innings of the game and only surrendered one hit. The Cougars out-hit the Lady Senators with six hits on the game, three by Macy Bryant, two by Frost and one by Kaley Cagle. Three runs plated by Walters State came on a second inning three-run homer.

Haley Hodgson (5-10) started the second game and took the loss.  Cleveland State once again reached base by six hits as Frost, Rachel Pierce, Grayson Brown, Brittany Arnold, Hannah Jones and Bre Dunsmore each had singles on the game.  

Hodgson went four innings and was relieved by Cagle who pitched the remaining three. Walters scored two in the first, three more in the fourth and their final run in the seventh. 

Games three and four on day two saw the Cougars struggle at the plate with singles by Bryant and Arnold in game three, followed by five singles in game four off the bats of Frost, Pierce, Brown, Alyssa Chancey and Jones.

Erin Hollis (1-3) started game three and took the loss while Hodgson moved her season record to 5-10 in game four.
