The Cougar Baseball team travelled to Barnesville, GA on Thursday afternoon to face Gordon State College seeking their first win of the season. Unfortunately, they could not secure a victory this afternoon as they fell 9-2 to the Highlanders.
Head coach Mike Policastro was not pleased with the game his squad played as a whole, but it was the offense that troubled him the most. "We did not play well in any part of the game," he said, "We did not capitalize on our scoring opportunities."
A bright spot, however, was the play of Cougars LF Lance Dockery. He notched two hits (2-for-4), one of which was a double. 3B Rhett Baldwin and C Ryan Wilson also played well, as they recorded the lone RBIs for Cleveland State.
The Cougars will hope to come out with a series win against Gordon State with two more opportunities against the Highlanders tomorrow. They will play a doubleheader starting at 12:00 ET.
