The Cougars golf team plays in their second tournament of the season over the next few days.

This time they travel to Morristown, TN to compete in the Waters State Fall Classic.

In their first tournament, Cleveland State placed 11th overall out of the 17 schools that competed at the Cherokee Ridge Country Club in Union Grove, Alabama at the Chuck Kalanick Memorial.

"It was a very respectful showing for our team," head coach Shannon Skipper said. "We were the only division two school team there as all the other teams were D1."

Sophomore Reece McFatter led the Cougars finishing 15 over par and 21st overall out of the field of 90 players. His second round score of 74 was the best of the tournament for Cleveland State.

Cougars sophomore Owen Kreuger wasn't far behind going a combined 20 over par and finishing strong in his final round with 74 strokes.

In their first collegiate action each Cleveland State freshman finished well ahead of the bottom of the pack of division one players with Andrew McCarver shooting +31, Kadyn Copeland +36 and Logan Gadd +39.

The Cougars look to build off their first tournament performance. Tee time is scheduled for 8 a.m. with the tournament running from October 8-10.
