The Cleveland State golf team opened their spring season at the Lioneer Invitational.
The tournament consisted of 18 teams played at the Gulf Shores Golf Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama hosted by Jefferson State Community College.
"The conditions were wet and cold," Cleveland State head coach Shannon Skipper said. "This was the highest wind that any of our players have ever played in."
The Cougars placed 14th shooting +72 overall, going +35 on day one and +37 on day two.
Cleveland State had four players participate in the tournament. Reese McFatter had the best day shooting four over par on day one. He finished with the best score overall for the Cougars at +11 good for 28th overall.
McFatter and Andrew McCarver each shot seven over par in day two. McFatter tied teammate Owen Kreuger going 19 over par in the tournament with each finishing in 53rd place overall.
Kadyn Copeland shot nine over par on day one and finished at +23 overall good for 69th place in the tournament.
"We definitely have to play better in upcoming tournaments," Skipper said. "We leave next Sunday going to Tifton, GA and hopefully we can put up some better scores."
The next tournament for the Cougars comes February 26 & 27 at the ABAC Spring Invitational hosted by Abraham Agriculture College at the Springhill Country Club in Tifton, GA.
