Cleveland State men's basketball hits the court and will see their first action of the 2023-2024 season tomorrow.

The Cougars are participating in the Battle of the South JUCO/Prep Jamboree at Next Play 360 Sports Complex in Marietta, GA.

"The pre-season jamboree is an event we've participated in for several years," head coach Rafael Howard said. "These games give us an opportunity to see where guys are at early as well as gives four-year college coaches an opportunity to see and recruit our guys."

Caleb Chapman is the Cougars only returning starter. He's a 6'7" forward that averaged ten points and six rebounds per game last season.

Two other players looking to move on to the next level are 6'2" freshman guard Thaddeus "Trey" Johnson from Hillsboro High School in Nashville, TN and 6'7" freshman forward Kameron Clark from Houston High School in Memphis, TN, according to Howard.

The Cougars have practiced throughout the fall getting ready for their upcoming season with this tournament in mind.

"It's a whole different atmosphere," assistant coach Caleb Coleman said.  "There are multiple games going on at the same time."

Cleveland State will play in three games facing Gaston Community College at 11 a.m., Snead State Community College at 1 p.m. and Patrick Henry Community College at 3:00 p.m.

"I'm looking forward to seeing my team compete," Howard said.

The Cougars officially start their season November 1 hosting Deep South Prep Academy with tip off set for 7:30 p.m.
