Haley Carroll is back with Cleveland State softball.
She is a member of the Cleveland State Athletic Hall of Fame for Softball and is being brought on as an assistant coach, the same position she had with the Cougars for a year and a half.
"I am so grateful, excited and honored for this opportunity to be able to coach at the school I played for and I look forward to helping build a winning program and recruiting in an area where I was raised," Carroll said.
In her two years playing at Cleveland State as a pitcher and at first, she won the Cougars most valuable player award, an All-Eastern Division Award, All-State Award and won the L. Quentin Lane Sportsmanship Award.
She then went to Tennessee Wesleyan for two years pitching, playing first base and spent time as a designated hitter where she earned All-Conference and All-Region Awards.
The past two years Carroll coached at Tennessee Wesleyan University where the team finished as the 2023 conference champions, 2024 conference runner-up, and earned trips to the opening rounds of the national tournament in both of her years with the team.
"I initially left to coach at Tennessee Wesleyan for an opportunity to increase my experience to coach at a 4-year college," Carroll said. "I have come back because I have a passion to work, develop and mentor young ladies in the community college environment."
"We are excited to have coach Carroll return with the program," athletic director Michael Policastro said. "As a Cleveland State graduate and a member of our Hall of Fame she brings not only a successful playing career, her experience coaching in our program, then leaving for a couple of years and coaching at the four-year level. She was interested in returning when the position opened up again and Coach Jaecks is excited to have coach Carroll return to the program."
