Volleyball's Celie Patterson had a huge day on Wednesday, as she signed on to play next year for the Tennessee Wesleyan Lady Bulldogs.

The freshman had a big year in the Lady Cougars' Region Runner-Up season in 2019. She was second on the team in assists with 110 total and contributed 151 digs and 52 kills as well. Patterson also had the game-winning kill in a five-set thriller vs. Chattanooga State in which Cleveland State earned their first conference win in program history.

"Celie came onto our team with a lot of versatile skills and continued to demonstrate that throughout her tenure here," said Head Coach Alizabeth Atnip of Patterson. "She was someone I could rely on to play any position I asked of her. In the middle of the season, we struggled in our setting position and, when she was asked to fill that role, she took it in stride. She always looks to improve, work with teammates to better assist them, and she helped lead the team out of a slump. I am grateful to have had Celie on our team and look forward to seeing her continue her career at TWU."
