Cleveland State Women's Basketball got back on the winning track on Saturday afternoon, securing a big 63-53 at Roane State.

Head Coach Evelyn Thompson spoke highly of the strength of the Roane State team the Lady Cougars faced in today's game. "We started off slowly, but got into a rhythm in the second half. Roane is a tough, well-coached team. We knew it was going to be a challenge. Our defensive effort was the difference in the game. We were committed to team defense and communication."

Emma Harig, last week's reigning TCCAA Player of the Week, led the team with 22 points while also grabbing five boards and posting a steal, rebound and block. "I am especially proud of her," Thompson said. "Her consistency and hard work put us in a position to win."

Michaela Bennefield also had 15 points and a team-high 16 rebounds while Asjah Harrell also scored 14 with a team-best four assists.

Cleveland State will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Walters State for a key matchup with the Lady Senators. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
