The Lady Cougar basketball team fought off the Walters State Lady Senators here this afternoon by a 66-65 final.  A game that saw nien ties and 15 lead changes saw it's last lead change at the 1:25 mark when Nicky Jones sank two free throws.

Cleveland would use balance scoring in the first quarter to to take an 18-14 lead, but see Walters tie the score at 33 at the end of the first half.  The third quarter saw the Lady Cougars take a 51-50 lead as Kyeisha Dalton sank tow free throws with less than a second to go in the quarter. No team would build more than a three-point lead in the last ten minutes.  

After Jones gave Cleveland the lead with her free throws, Michaela Bennefield would increase the lead with her own two free throws at 64-61.  Walters would move back within one, but Asjah Harrell would counter with two free throws of her own.  Walters would score a basket in the last second for the final.

Three Lady Cougars would reach double figures led by Bennefield with 26 points to go with a team high ten rebounds and five steals.  Harrell would be next with 16 points and a team high four assists.  Jones would add ten points in the win.  Ansley Bice, Kiara Wilson, and Harrell each supported Bennefield with six rebounds.
