
Cougar Softball Loses Doubleheader to Chattanooga State
In what began a back-to-back home and home series vs Chattanooga State the Cougars lost a home
doubleheader vs Chattanooga State on Saturday, April 12 with scores of 5-1 and 10-0. Currently
Cleveland State has a conference record of 9-13 with an overall mark of 13-21.
The Cougars are in eighth place in the eleven team Tennessee Community College Athletic
Association (TCCAA) with six games remaining on the schedule, which are all conference contests.
Game One
Cleveland State's lone run of the day came in game one after Chattanooga had taken a 2-0 lead after
their half of the first inning. Answering back in the bottom of the first, Carissa Montgomery led off with
a double and came home to score after two were out on a single by Layla Pettigrew.
In the first, Lilly Griffitts joined Montgomery and Pettigrew with the only other hit of the game for the
Cougars in the 5-1 loss.
Game Two
The Cougars were held scoreless in game two and managed just one hit, a fourth inning single off the
bat of Desiree Nance. The final five-inning score was 10-0.
What's Next
The Cougars are scheduled to travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee on Wednesday, April 16 to play a
conference doubleheader vs Chattanooga State with game times scheduled for 4 and 6 p.m. EST.
Chattanooga is in first place in the TCCAA and has yet to lose in conference play.
