Cougars Drop One to Gordon State
Cleveland State's baseball team lost to Gordon State on Tuesday, by a score of 8-2. This puts the Cougar's record at 4-3 on the season.
The starter for the Cougars in this matchup was Ryan Inches, who went 2 innings, allowing 4 earned runs while issuing 5 walks. 7 different pitchers took the mound for the Cougars after Inches, by the time the game ended. Once the 5th inning arrived the Cougars were looking at a 4-0 deficit, but Joey Roberson and Brandon Mason were able to score to bring it to a 4-2 score. Unfortunately these were the only runs the Cougars could score and the game finished with an 8-2 final.
Head Coach Mike Policastro said, "We could not get any momentum going. We were behind early and could not put anything together offensively."
Tucker Mendenhall finished the day with an RBI on a sacrifice fly, Trey Vanderpool also had a sacrifice and also snagged a stolen base. Joey Roberson and Brandon Mason each had a hit, but these were the only hits of the game for the Cougars. Ryan Inches was the losing pitcher in today's affair.
The Cougars will look to get back into the win column on Tuesday, February 20th at home against Chattanooga State.
