Gipson Hits Two Walk-Offs as Cougars Ten-Run Rule BCA
Caleb Gipson hit two walk-offs as Cleveland State ten-run ruled Brett Carroll Academy in both games of their double header.
In game one Gipson hit a pinch-hit grand slam to end it and in game two he singled to drive home the game winning run.
"Good to get back to .500," Cleveland State head baseball coach Aaron Bryant said. "Really executed our offense well and it was great to be able to get some different guys some at bats today."
Game one ended 14-3 in six innings. Designated hitter Ty Denton, first baseman Nelson McKnight, catcher Will Phipps and right fielder Riley Mahan each doubled. Shortstop Aiden McClary drove in three while Denton and McKnight each hit home a pair of runs.
Game two ended 13-3 over six innings. Designated hitter Jacob Cooper tripled. Second baseman Dylan Owens double twice while McClary, Denton and Mahan each added doubles of their own.
Gipson drove in another three in the game giving him a total of seven RBI on the day. Mahan also helped bring three runs to the plate while McClary and third baseman Evan Goins had two R.B.I.
Cleveland State (14-14, 8-7) returns to conference play heading to Volunteer State (23-9, 7-7) for a three-game series starting Friday and finishing with a double header Saturday.
