
Cougars Sweep Double Header, Winning Series at Volunteer State
Cleveland State won both games of their double header Saturday, taking two of three games at Volunteer State.
The Cougars won game one 9-3 and game two 13-7.
Turner Junkins (W, 4-3) picked up the victory in the first game of the double header pitching five innings allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out six and walking five. Max Owens (W, 3-3) earned the win in the second game going 4.2 innings allowing five earned runs on five hits while striking out five and walking five batters.
Third baseman Evan Goins drove in three of the Cougars runs with centerfielder Nate Dunfee hitting home two more in the first game. Shortstop Aiden McClary led the way offensively in game two going 3-4 hitting in four runs and scoring twice.
Cleveland State returns to the field hosting Pellissippi State (20-10, 11-4) in a double header on Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
