
Cougars Lose at Home to Gordon State

Cleveland State lost this afternoon, suffering their second defeat to the Highlanders in the last scheduled game between the two schools this season.
The Cougars (8-9, 4-2) were defeated in their first meeting on the road 18-6 and it didn't go much better today at home going down 11-1 to Gordon State (7-9).
Second baseman Brogan Jones was a bright spot having a good day at the plate going 2-3 driving in a run and walking while also stealing two bases. Right fielder Caleb Gipson doubled for the Cougars only extra base hit on the day.
The Highlanders combined to go 15-40 at the plate homering three times, driving in nine of their runs while tallying three doubles.
Landon Tankersley (W, 1-1) earned the victory pitching six innings allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out four and walking one. Braden Suggs (L, 0-2) suffered the loss for Cleveland State.
The Cougars return to conference play for their next game going to Pellissippi State (6-6, 3-3) this weekend for a three-game series. First pitch is Friday at 1 p.m. with a double header scheduled Saturday starting at noon.
