Cleveland State Community College's women's basketball team competed in the Georgia Highlands College Thanksgiving Classic this past weekend, losing their games against Georgia Highlands and Pensacola State.

Leading the Lady Cougars versus Georgia Highlands was Jordan Smith who scored 11 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Britnay Gore also contributed nicely, dropping 9 points, and 6 rebounds. At the halfway mark, the Lady Cougars found themselves down by ten points, 28-18 to Georgia Highlands. This trend continued in the 3rd and 4th quarters, as the Lady Cougars ultimately lost by a score of 76-42.

The Lady Cougar's second game versus Pensacola College had a similar tale. Hannah Phillips lead the Lady Cougars with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Jordan Smith and Kaitlin Crump each dropped 8 points and combined for 7 rebounds. The Lady Cougars went into the half with a one point lead, 28-27. Michaela Bennefield and Britnay Gore who combined for 10 points and a whopping 23 rebounds, tried their best to secure the victory for the Lady Cougars. Unfortunately the Pensacola Lady Pirates came charging back, winning the game with a final score of 64-44.

The Lady Cougars are now 2-5 (1-1) on the season. Cleveland State will look to improve their 0-2 road record as they face Jackson State Community College on Friday, November 30th at 7:30 PM EST.
