2:00 ET- #1 Walters State 57- #8 Volunteer State 48

 

Top-ranked Walters State advanced to the semifinals after defeating Vol State 58-47. They will play #4 Roane State on Monday at 2:00 ET.

 

Walters State remains undefeated in the conference after they secured an impressive 16-0 regular season.

 

The Lady Senators began the game with a 11-3 run and never trailed in the game, building their lead up to 14 with time expiring in the 3rd quarter. Midway through the fourth quarter, though, the lead was trimmed significantly as Lady Pioneer Kelsey Harriman hit two straight three point shots to cut the Walters State lead to just 49-44.

 

Dulcy Fankam Mendijadeu lead all scores with 17 points, recording a double-double with her Lady Senators' team-high 12 rebounds. She also stole the ball four times.

4:00 ET- #4 Roane State 48- #5 Jackson State 45


Roane State survived and advanced to the semifinals, winning 48-45 as Jackson State missed two potentially game-tying three-point shots in the final seconds of the game. They will face #1 Walters State Monday at 2:00 ET.

 

The game was defined by a close score. The two teams were tied at 13 at the end of the first quarter, and remained close throughout the first half as the Lady Raiders lead 23-21 going into the locker room.

 

Roane State was able to grow their lead to five points midway through the third quarter, but Jackson State stormed back with a buzzer-beating basket in the third to bring the game back to 36-35. At the 8:56 mark of the fourth quarter, Sarah Scott tied the game at 36 for the Lady Green Jays and they took a 42-41 lead with 3:03 to go, but Roane State was able to regain the lead late and did not look back.

 

Semajia Ogburn of Jackson State and Adalys Brown of Roane State both lead all scorers with 23 points each.

6:00 ET- #7 Cleveland State vs. #2 Motlow State

 

Motlow State advanced to the semifinals of the tournament after a 77-72 victory over Cleveland State. They will face the winner of #3 Chattanooga State and #6 Southwest Tennessee on Monday at 4:00 ET.

 

Motlow State started the game on a 9-0 run, but the Lady Cougars were able to crawl their way back into the game, bringing the score to 13-12 at the 3:17 mark and tying it 16-16 with 1:38 left in the first quarter. Cleveland State was able to battle back and take a 27-25 lead at the 6:33 mark of the second quarter. The two teams went into the locker room tied at 38-38.

 

Cleveland State came out of the locker room hot, taking a lead and building it up to six points at the 4:22 mark of the third quarter. Their lead was as many as eight points with just over a minute to go in the third quarter, but Motlow State would not go away as they came back to take the lead at the 5:28 mark of the fourth quarter.

 

The two teams were neck and neck late, tying the game at 68 with just over three minutes to go and 70 all with 2:42 left. Motlow State took the lead with 2:43 to go, and they did not give it back.

 

Cleveland State's Michaela Bennefield led all scorers with 22 points. She also led the Lady Cougars in assists and rebounds, posting 9 and 15 respectively.

8:00 ET- #3 Chattanooga State 54 vs. #6 Southwest Tennessee 51

 

_____ advances to the semifinals of the TCCAA Tournament. They will face #2 Motlow State at 4:00 ET on Monday.

 

Southwest Tennessee opened the game on an 8-2 run, but then Chattanooga State stormed back with a 6-0 run to tie the game midway through the first. Chatt State took a 12-11 lead at the 2:20 mark of the first quarter, and the lead traded hands multiple times in the first half afterwards.

 

The Lady Saluqis went into the locker room up 28-24 and continued to build their lead when they entered into the third quarter. They were up nine points after taking a 33-24 lead at the 7:47 mark of the quarter. However, the Lady Tigers would not go away and regained a 37-36 lead late in the third quarter.

 

Entering the fourth quarter, the game got much closer. The lead changed hands two times within the first half of the final frame, and remained close until the end. The two teams were tied at 46 with 1:29 to go. Mackenzie Trouten hit a three-pointer to make it 49-46 with 1:18 left.

 

After Trouten and Ashlyan Baker made three free throws in the 30 seconds for the Lady Tigers, Aliyah Foote made a three-pointer with nine seconds to go to make things interesting at 52-49. Though they made big shot after big shot in the waning seconds, in the end, the deficit was too much for the Lady Saluqis to overcome.

 

Baker led all scorers with 17 points. She also had three rebounds and an assist.
