
LADY COUGARS ABLE TO OUTLAST CENTRAL GEORGIA
The Lady Cougars's offensive struggles continued Tuesday night as they took on the Lady Titans of Central Georgia, but were able to put a few runs together early in the second quarter and late in the fourth to hold off their visitors by a 75-70 final.
Trailing 17-13 after the first ten minutes, Cleveland State was able to put a late run together to take a 32-31 lead into the locker room at the half. Coming out of the break, they were able to extend their lead midway through the third before Central Georgia mad a push to close the gap to 54-50 going into the final stanza.
The game stayed that way for most of the fourth quarter before crucial defensive rebounds and stops combined with some timely free throw shooting were able to cement the victory. Cleveland was able to hold Central Georgia without a field goal in the last 1:42 of the game.
Leisa Butler led the way which included a huge three-point play in the last minute with 15 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists. Julia Gaither (pictured) led three other ladies in double figures with 13 points and four assists. JaTasha Hollinger and Abby Hubert each finished with 11 points while Keya Jenkins matched Butler's seven boards.
