LADY COUGARS REBOUND FROM LOSS; OUTLAST ROANE 50-42
The Lady Cougars overcame back to back lackluster efforts to fight off the Raiderettes of Roane State by a 50-42 final.
Starting off slowly in the first quarter, Cleveland State used defense to build a 10-7 lead after the first ten minutes. The second quarter, they used a strong two minutes of transition basketball to take a bigger lead. Abby Hubert was the key cog in the run as she would tally eight points in the quarter as the Lady Cougars led 26-18 at the break. The Raiderettes would make the runs in the 2nd half before free throws would salt away the win.
Hubert was the leading scorer in the contest with 17 points with a team high nine rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Leisa Butler would also reach double figures with ten points and seven rebounds. Julia Gaither led the squad with three assists and match Hubert's three steals. Keya Jenkins would match Hubert with two blocks.
