Box Score

Men's Basketball secured their first conference win of the season on Saturday evening, defeating Vol State 94-77 in Gallatin, Tenn.

The Cougars took an early lead in the contest and never looked back. After Cleveland State built up a large margin, the Pioneers were only able to cut the deficit to six. The second half was even stronger, as the Cougars pulled away for their third victory of the season.

Demonte Person was the star of the night. He scored 32 points and stole the ball five times, both career-highs, while also dishing out three assists.

Four other Cougars also reached double-digits in scoring. Jakobey Hitchens scored 15 points while also chipping in five rebounds. Jaquez Hicks scored 13 points while grabbing eight boards of his own. Jon Morgan recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Kerry Pratt scored 10 points and posted seven rebounds.

"This was probably our most complete game of the year with our effort on both ends," said head coach Lee Cigliano. "Demonte Person had one of his best games since he's been at Cleveland State with his play on both ends. We needed him today and came through for us. We got solid play from Jon, Jaquez, Jakobey, and Kerry as well. This was a very good conference win on the road."

Next up, Cleveland State will travel to Roane State on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 ET.
