Men's Basketball got back on track on Saturday evening, defeating conference foe Volunteer State 87-76.
The Cougars never allowed the Pioneers to take the lead at any point of the game and led by as many as 23, a mark which came in the later stages of the first half. Cleveland State also outshot Volunteer State 59.3 percent to 39.2 percent while also making 50 percent of their three-point attempts.
It was a career night for Jakobey Hitchens. He scored a career-best 27 points, which led all scorers, while also recording three rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a block. Both Jager Dickson and Jon Morgan scored 11 points each, while Demonte Person also reached double-digits with 10 points and team-highs in rebounds with seven and assists with three.
The win brings Cleveland State to 8-11 on their season and 5-5 in conference play. They will be back in action on Wednesday as they welcome Roane State to Cleveland. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 ET.
