Men's Basketball's Hicks Signs With Claflin

Men's Basketball's Jaquez Hicks is headed to a four-year institution to continue his collegiate basketball career after signing his letter of intent with Claflin University on Friday.

The sophomore forward had a solid two seasons for the Cougars, averaging 11.0 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game in 2019-20. He was a key member of the 2018-19 squad which won the TCCAA Tournament in Cleveland and also won a game in the National Tournament. Hicks also leaves Cleveland State as the program leader in career blocks and single-season blocks and also set the record for blocks in a game with seven vs. Columbia State on Feb. 15.

"We are pleased to hear Jaquez is getting an opportunity to play NCAA DII basketball," said Head Coach Lee Cigliano. "Jaquez improved the last two years with his ability to score and always rebounded well. I believe he will be a contributor for Claflin the next two years. We appreciate his contributions to Cleveland State and will miss him."

Claflin is an NCAA Division II located in Orangeburg, S.C. Join us in congratulating Jaquez!
