Men's Basketball pulled out a dramatic win over conference rival Walters State on Wednesday, defeating the Senators 81-78. The Cougars built a 14 point lead in the early stages of the second half and did a great job of holding off a Walters State team hungry for a comeback.
Jakobey Hitchens nearly reached his career-high of 27 points, scoring a game-high 24 points, while also grabbing four boards, dishing out two assists, and picking up two steals. Demonte Person scored 19 points of his own while leading the game with three assists while also picking up three rebounds and two steals. Jaquez Hicks and Jon Morgan also picked up double-digits points, scoring 12 and 11 respectively. Jager Dickson tied a game-high with eight rebounds.
The win brings the Cougars to 9-13 over and 6-7 in conference play. They will be back in action at 5:00 ET on Saturday at Jackson State.
