Lady Cougars Split with Lady Scots Saturday

Cleveland State Softball played to a split with NCAA Division III opponent Maryville College on Sunday afternoon in Maryville, Tenn.

 

GAME 1-

In the first game, the Lady Cougars fell 10-2 in five innings in a game where errors played the team. Lexi Vogel and Madison Miner had three hits each, while Cleveland State recorded nine total.

 

GAME 2-

In the second game, Cleveland State won 7-4. Makala Strickland drove in two of the Lady Cougars' four runs via a second inning home run. Strickland, Amber Atkins, Shayla Phillips, and Olivia Harris each had two hits in the contest. 

On the mound, Kaylee Cornelius earned the winning with a solid four innings of work. Anna Yella pitched three innings to earn the save.

 

The Lady Cougars will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Volunteer State to resume conference play against the Lady Pioneers. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.
