With scores of 8-3 and 10-2 Cleveland State softball finished their series vs Roane State winning all four of the scheduled games moving their conference record to 11-0 and overall mark to 18-5.
On a day when the wind chill at the beginning of the doubleheader was 29 degrees Bailee Phillips won her seventh game of the season in game one while Hadley Burnette notched her 10th win of the season in game two.

In what was a slow start for the Cougars, Roane State jumped off to a 3-0 lead after five innings before Cleveland State started it going with their offense. In the bottom of the fifth the Cougars scored two and then broke it open in the bottom of the sixth scoring 6 for the eventual 8-3 win.
Cleveland State earned five of their eight runs with Lexi Vogel and Ally Starnes driving home two each while Hope Ingle plated one. It was Ingle, Ally Starnes and Vogel leading the way hitting with three hits each while Carlynn Atamaniuk and Kristen Fowler each had two. Abby Starnes, Emily Higgins and Taylor Hancock round out the hit total with one each.
Phillips went the distance and struck out five.
Game Two Recap… Sunday March 19
In what turned out to be a five inning 10-2 win the Cougars scored runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings as Burnette struck out five giving up only one earned run.
Ingle and Abby Young hit homeruns while Shelby Sullivan and Atamaniuk hit extra base hits with a double and triple respectively. Young had three RBI's including a double as Atamaniuk also drove home three. Single RBI's came from Ingle, Fowler and Whitney Lee.
Atamaniuk, Young, Sullivan and Abby Starnes each had two hits while Ingle, Fowler and Vogel had one each.

Cleveland State takes a day off and then is back in action on Tuesday March 21 hosting College of Lake County in a doubleheader at the Cougar Softball Field on the Campus of Cleveland State. Start times are at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. EST.
