
Cleveland State Softball Players on to New Challenges
Eight members of the 2022-2023 Cougar softball team are on their way from Cleveland State to complete their degree at higher educational institutions of learning with six committed to continue playing collegiate softball.
Three players who completed two years at Cleveland State will be attending Tennessee Wesleyan University. They are Carlynn Atamaniuk, Emily Higgins and Bailee Phillips. As a Cougar Atamaniuk played centerfield and batted second, Higgins batted fifth, playing third and pitched while Phillips pitched and was a designated hitter.
Hope Ingle will be attending Wofford University and will be a member of the first softball team at Wofford. They will be in the Southern Conference. Ingle who was the Cougar leadoff hitter caught every game her freshmen year and played shortstop her second year.
University of Tennessee Southern will be the new home for Shelby Sullivan. Both of Sullivan's years she batted fourth for Cleveland State and played first base.
With the opportunity to move onto a four year school after one year of Cougar softball, Abby Reed will be attending Truett McConnell University and will be a part of their softball program while she studies towards her degree.
Two-year pitcher Hadley Burnette leaves Cleveland State to attend Wallace Hanceville to complete an Allied Health degree in the field of Occupational Therapy. Burnette will not be playing softball as she completed her goal here at Cleveland State to compete for two years in college.
As a freshman, Abby Young entered Cleveland State to be part of the softball program while having earned numerous college level classes attained through dual enrollment. Young has chosen Dalton State to complete her degree goals in higher education.
