
Cougars Split Double Header with Southwest Tennessee
Cleveland State split their double header today with Southwest Tennessee. The Cougars (16-6, 4-6) lost the lead towards the end of game one losing 11-9, but shut down the Saluqis (15-15, 2-10) in all but one inning for a 13-5 win in game two.

Game One
Cleveland State jumped out to a 6-0 lead with four runs in the first then two in the second before Southwest Tennessee scored four in the third and one in the fourth to bring it to a one run game.
The fifth inning was scoreless, then the Saluqis scored six in the sixth, which proved to be too much for the Cougars to come back from.
Ava Layne homered twice and Torrey Cummings also hit one of her own. Layne finished with four RBI while Cummings had two.
Game Two
Besides a five run third inning, Kadence Brewer (6-3) shutout Southwest Tennessee, allowing five earned runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking three.
Cummings homered again for her second on the day. Abby Murrill also hit one over the fence.
Murrill, Whitney Lee and Kristen Fowler each had three runs batted in. Fowler went 5-5 at the plate, Lee was 3-3 and Murrill 4-5 with a team high three runs scored.
Games three and four of the series are tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for noon.
