Women's Basketball Participates in Fire Safety Campaign

Women's Basketball participated in their service community service project as a full team on Saturday, Sept. 7 as they assisted the American Red Cross and Bradley Fire Department with the "Close the Door, Sound the Alarm Campaign."

The Lady Cougars were tasked with helping both parties distribute fire safety information along with inspecting and installing smoke detectors around Cleveland. In total, the group installed almost 150 smoke detectors in various neighborhoods in Cleveland.

"This weekend's event gave us another opportunity to show our support for our community," head coach Evelyn Thompson said. "We were able to partner with the Red Cross and the Bradley Fire Department to educate a large number of Cleveland neighborhoods on the importance of fire safety. We left feeling like we made a difference. Our partners in this event are tremendous organizations. We were privileged to share this 'Close the Door' campaign with them."
