Women's Basketball Adds Talent to 2020-21 Recruiting Class

Women's Basketball Adds Talent to 2020-21 Recruiting Class

Women's Basketball Head Coach Evelyn Thompson continues to add talent this offseason, inking four more to her 2020-21 roster.

"I am very excited about this incoming class of young women," said Thompson of her 2020-21 signees. "They all come from very successful programs, so they understand what it will take to be successful here at Cleveland State. When I talk about success, these young women are successful in all areas. They are just as committed to their academics and community service as they are to basketball. They are all-around great students, athletics and citizens. The Cougar community will be greater because of the addition of this class. On the court, you can expect an up-tempo game, great defense, and a lot of scoring. This class covers all of our needs with the offensive and defensive schemes we want to run. In the classroom, this group is expected to be very high-achieving. I expect this group to receive academic awards across the board. In the community, they are expected to continue with the great tradition of community service for which Cleveland State Women's Basketball is known."

Welcome Anna Morris! She is a 5'9" guard and forward from Maryville, Tenn. and William Blount High School. "Anna brings versatility," said Thompson. "She has played almost every position on the floor. She will spend most of her time at the two and three spots. I love the fact that she loves to play defense."

Welcome Emma Harig! She is a 6'0" center from Maryville, Tenn. and Heritage High School. "Emma will give us a physical presence on the block," said Thompson. "She can score with her back to the basket or facing up. We will count on her for rebounding as well as defending in the paint."

Welcome Shalyn Whitson! She is a 5'11" forward from Unicoi, Tenn. and Happy Valley High School. "Shalyn brings more physicality and size to our team," said Thompson. She has the ability to score from all levels. She can score beyond the arc and will be counted on for rebounding as well."

Welcome Kiersten Hudson! She is a 5'9" guard from Spring Hill, Tenn. and Middle Tennessee Christian School. "Kiersten is a tough, hard-working guard who will give us points from her versatile offensive skill set, but will also create offense from her defense," said Thompson."
