Third-seeded Women's Basketball advanced to the semifinals of the TCCAA Tournament on Sunday, defeating the Lady Saluqis of Southwest Tennessee 68-57 in the quarterfinals in Columbia, Tenn.
The Lady Cougars had to battle back from a 34-31 halftime deficit to get the win. Rebounding was a key to the comeback, as Cleveland State outdid Southwest Tennessee 41-26 on the boards.
TCCAA MVP Asjah Harrell led all scorers in points and assists with 27 and five, respectively. She also posted five steals. Britnay Gore had a game-high 12 rebounds along with nine points , a block and three steals, while Za'kkria Robinson posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds with two steals. Cassidy Nihoff, who scored 14 points and posted two assists, also knocked down some crucial shots for the Lady Cougars.
#3 Cleveland State will face #2 Chattanooga State tomorrow at 9:00 ET at Columbia State.
