Women's Basketball Signs Offensive Player of the Year

Women's Basketball continues to add talent to their 2020-21 roster, signing Nicky Jones.

Jones, out of Tifton, GA and Tift County High School, is an All-Region First Team guard that led the Lady Blue Devils in scoring. Jones was also named Region 178 Offensive Player of the Year.

"Nicky is an outstanding player," said Tift County Women's Basketball Head Coach Julie Conner. "She has point guard skills in a shooter's body. She was our leading scorer and leader. She has confidence that she knows she can get the job done… But, Nicky's best quality is that she is a great person."

Cleveland State Women's Basketball Head Coach Evelyn Thompson raved about the signing of Jones. "I am so excited to sign a player of Nicky's caliber," said Thompson. "She has the ability to play multiple positions. She can score on all levels. I love her enthusiasm and passion for the game. Nicky comes from a winning program and understands what it takes to be successful both on the court and in the classroom. Her intelligence and dedication are on full display on and off of the court. During the recruiting process, I was most impressed with her as a person. She is the embodiment of our championship culture."
