August 19 and 20 are big days for Cougar Volleyball as Cleveland State hosts the Cougar Classic, playing three matches in two days.  Andrew College, USC Union and Southwest Virginia join the Cougars in what undoubtedly will be an exciting opening of the 2022 volleyball season.

Friday the 19th at 5 p.m. the Cougars open the Classic vs Andrew College at the L Quentin Lane Gymnasium on the campus of Cleveland State.  Cleveland State's matches on Saturday include a 12 noon start vs USC Union ending with Southwest Virginia scheduled at 4 p.m.

During the 2021 season the Cougars played one of the three teams competing in the Cougar Classic, Southwest Virginia.  Cleveland State won the hard fought match with set scores of 25-12, 25-20 and 25-22.

With only two hitters returning Head Coach Alizabeth Atnip looks to develop early team chemistry with recruited player versatility and team speed.  Atnip said:  "Along with our returning and recruited hitters, we have two freshmen setters that bring allot of experience and talent to our program.  We are very excited to start the season, playing some outstanding competition."

Admission is $8 per person while Cleveland State students can enter free with their student ID.
