
Cougar Volleyball Wins Match at Southwest Virginia in Straight Sets
With straight set wins over Southwest Virginia of 25-15, 25-7 and 25-8 Cougar Volleyball moved their 2022 overall match record to 4-2. In winning on the road on Saturday, September 10 Head Coach Alizabeth Atnip said: "Saturday's win was accomplished by the whole team. Our defense looked good with high quality passes. Both setters ran a quick offense and I'm pleased with the progress our hitters have made. We look forward to getting back to conference play next week as we continue to strive forward."
Cleveland State's dominant play was led by Ella Johnson and Taylor Hancock with 13 and 10 Assists respectively. Briana Parks threw down nine Kills followed by Sammie Daniels who had seven. Statistical Dig leaders included Kacie Hughes with 11, seven by Kathryn Kibler, followed by Madison Husted and Johnson with six each and Hancock chipping in at five.
Tuesday, September 13 Cleveland State plays at home vs conference foe Roane State. Currently both schools have 0-1 conference records while Roane has an overall mark of 1-4.
Match play is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium. Admission is $8 per person while Cleveland State students attend free with student ID.
