Due to a leaking roof in the gym at Chattanooga State on Tuesday, September 6 the conference volleyball opener between the Cougars and Tigers was moved to the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium on the Campus of Cleveland State on Wednesday, September 7.
In a highly competitive match Cleveland State lost to Chattanooga State in three sets, 25-23, 25-15 and 25-12. The match loss moved the Cougars overall record to 3-2 with a conference mark of 0-1. Overall records of collegiate competitors in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association places Cleveland State behind Chattanooga State and Walters State but ahead of Roane State.
Saturday, September 10 the Cougars play a road rematch with Southwest Virginia having beaten them in match play in three straight sets. Cleveland State's next conference competition is on Tuesday, September 13 as they play host to Roane State. Match play is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.
