Saturday, August 20 Cougar Volleyball put an exclamation point to the opening of the 2022 season by winning every set they played, first vs USC Union and then against Southwest Virginia putting them at a match record of 3-0.

Following Friday's perfect match win vs Andrew College, Cleveland State started the second day of the Cougar Classic against USC Union winning three sets, 25-15, 25-19 and 25-14. Sophomore Brianna Parks nailed 11 Kill shots, two sport player Taylor Hancock had 18 assists, first year player Ella Johnson kicked in with 16 Digs while sophomores Olivia Lowden and Madison Husted each had two Aces.

The Cougars ended Saturday with set wins of 25-16, 27-25 and 25-15.  Cleveland State continued their hustle play as Hancock had 17 Assists and 11 Digs while Parks had 4 Aces, teaming with
DeShanna Jones with 15 Kills; eight by Parks and 7 by Jones.

Statistical leaders for the three-set win on Friday, August 19 vs Andrew College included Parks with six Kills and Hancock with 12 Assists.  Husted had 12 Digs while Parks and Hancock each had two Aces.

At the conclusion of the Classic, Head Coach Alizabeth Atnip said: "I am thrilled with the outcome.  We still have a lot to work on but every athlete on our team contributed in a very positive way."

The Cougars next play Reinhardt University at Cleveland State on Tuesday, August 30 with match time slated for 6:30 p.m.  Volleyball contests are played in the L. Quentin
