Cleveland State got their first home win of the season.

The Cougars (4-11, 0-6) swept Covenant College in three sets 25-19, 25-18 and 25-12.

"Winning always feels great, but it's even better at home," head coach Peyton McDaniel said. "The girls have been working hard everyday and it's nice to see it translate into a win."

Cleveland State played nearly flawless on the offensive side making just two errors on kills attempts in the first and third sets. Elanee Cotter put together a game high 11 kills throughout the match.

Zowee Dillard is the conference leader in kills, but her role has changed over the last couple matches now leading the team in assists. She had 23 in this contest. Isabella Messer had another strong night with a game high 14 digs, keeping her at fourth in the conference in the category overall.

Cleveland State gets back to it quickly with a road conference game at Chattanooga State (14-8, 2-3) Tuesday night with the game slated to start at 6:30 p.m. The two teams met back at Cleveland State on September 24 with the Tigers taking the game 3-0.

"We hope to carry this momentum into tomorrow," McDaniel said. "It's nice to be on the road, but right in our backyard and we are hoping to see some fans travel with us."
