The Cougars (5-14, 0-8) played the Panthers (11-12, 2-6) twice this season with Pellissippi State winning the first game 3-2 and the second 3-0.
"I am very proud of the work that we've done this season," Cougars head coach Peyton McDaniel said. "From August to now, I have seen so much improvement. This team has the best personality and has been a ton of fun to coach."
The winner of the game will play the number one seed Walters State (23-5, 7-1) in the evening after Roane State (16-7, 6-2) and Chattanooga State (18-8, 5-3) play for a chance to make it to the conference finals.
"We are feeling excited and prepared for the conference tournament," McDaniel said. "It's an exciting time for a roster full of freshmen to enter their first post-season."
All but one player on the Cougars team this season is a freshman. Kaydence Houston is the only sophomore, and she was honored in the team's last home game of the season Monday night.
Cleveland State's Zowee Dillard finished the season second overall in kills with 3.28 per set. Isabella Messer is fourth in the conference in digs at 4.14 per set.
The Panthers feature two of the top five leaders in kills in Natalie Knight and Yevdokiya Glushchenko at fourth and fifth respectively. Grayson Jones comes in at fifth in digs in the conference at 4.11 per set.
"We have put in months of hard work, so I'm excited to compete with our girls with different stakes on the line," McDaniel said. "I think post-season is the pivotal moment that you see freshmen become upperclassmen and I'm excited to see how our girls step up to the challenge."
Game time is scheduled for November 1 at 1 p.m. with the tournament being held at Roane State Community College.
