Wilkey helps Cougars down Roane State 7-2

The Cougars beat Roane State 7-2 in seven innings on Tuesday behind Hagen Wilkey, who knocked in three runs.

He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Roane State couldn't get anything going as long as Kegan Frederick was on the hill. Roane State managed just three hits off of the CSCC Cougars' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his five innings of work.

Mason Sawicki couldn't get it done on the mound for Roane State, taking a loss. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.

CSCC Cougars never trailed after scoring one run in the first on a groundout by Wilkey.

CSCC Cougars tacked on another two runs in the fourth. A sacrifice fly scored Janson Roberson for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Wilkey's single, scoring Wright Hackett.

CSCC Cougars built upon its lead with three runs in the sixth. A clutch sacrifice fly scored Hackett to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Wilkey's single, bringing home Clay Hetland.
