After two innings it was a tie ball game with Cleveland State and Vincennes scoring 6 runs each, and then Cougars pitcher Drew Korzybski entered the game.
Korzybski pitched the final five innings allowing one hit, no earned runs and striking out eight while picking up the win.
In the top of the second, the Trailblazers clean-up batter Lance Myers cleared the bases with a grand slam giving the Trailblazers a 6-4 lead. From there the Cleveland State Cougars went on to win 12-7.
Shortstop Janson Roberson led Cleveland State's offensive surge going 4-4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. The Cougars three and four batters, Caleb Longley and Hagen Wilkey, combined for five RBI.
The second half of today's double header is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
