The CSCC Cougars built an early edge on Thursday, but Walters State roared back to steal a 6-3 victory in the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Baseball Tournament at Chattanooga State Community College.
While the Cougars led until the sixth inning, Walters State worked its way back and took the lead on an RBI single by Matt Williams.
Walters State jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Kyle Wilson singled to ignite Walters State's offense. A single by Osuna then moved Kyle Wilson from first to second. The scoreboard lit up again for Walters State when Osuna scored on a sacrifice fly by Weston McArthor.
The lead stayed with Walters State after the sixth, when it scored two runs on an RBI double by Kyle Wilson and an RBI single by Matt Williams.
Jake Wyrick (4-5) suffered the loss for the Cougars pitching six innings allowing five runs on nine hits while walking three and fanning two.
The Cougars will meet Jackson State today, at 1:00 pm, as the tournament continues at Chattanooga State.
