The Cleveland State Cougars (3-1) traveled to Georgia Highlands (2-2) on Tuesday and came away with a 7-0 win. The offense pounded out 14 hits, led by Chris Caffrey who had three hits and two runs batted in. Raunel Perez claimed the win as the seven Cougar pitchers combined on the shutout allowing four hits, while striking out ten Charger batters.
The Cougars jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Caleb Longley hit a two out homerun to left- center field. The Cougars added two more runs in the fourth inning as catcher Anthony Hunt had a two out run scoring single to right field driving in Chris Caffrey and Jammer Strickland who both singled.
The scoring continued as the Cougars scored two runs in both the fifth and eighth innings compliments of clutch two out hits by Chris Caffrey and Wright Hackett.
Adding to the offense were Jammer Strickland, Wright Hackett, Caleb Longley, and Janson Roberson all who had two hits in the game.
The Cougars are back in action this weekend at home against Vincennes University in a three game series Friday and Saturday.
