Cleveland State split their double header today at Piedmont University.
The Cougars (7-2) secured a victory after scoring the go ahead run in the final inning in game one, but couldn't mount a comeback in game two.
First baseman Caleb Longley hit a double in the seventh inning driving in two runs to put the Cougars ahead 4-2 in game one. Pitcher Brandon Leonard shut out Piedmont in the final half inning to earn the save.
In game two, Cougars center fielder Wright Hackett led the offensive charge going 3-5 scoring three runs including one in the last inning, but it wasn't enough as Piedmont (7-2) dropped Cleveland State 10-8.
The Cougars return to the field this Friday traveling to Volunteer State Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 3pm.
